It is a hunter, and those are the peaks on the back. How do astronomers analyze what colors are present in a beam of light?
The human eye can only see a subset of colors of light - for example, you can not see infrared or ultraviolet. Astronomers use an instrument called a spectrometer to analyze the color spectrum, but uses a prism to split the light in all its different colors. The results can be transmitted directly to a computer that performs the analysis.
